In this page: A local long-distance footpath.

South Telford Way

The South Telford Rights of Way Partnership has established this exciting and informative long distance footpath. It is for the benefit of local people and visitors alike.

Partner Parishes

The 18km loop route passes through the three partner parishes of STROWP:

  • Madeley
  • Stirchley and Brookside.
  • The Gorge

It includes countryside and woodland areas managed by Severn Gorge Countryside Trust.

Rights of Way

Wherever possible the route uses the existing Rights of Way network and avoids more heavily used footpaths. The South Telford Way presents the user with opportunities to explore new and previously, secret, aspects of South Telford. You can take it in either long or short stretches.

Mosaic

Discover the blend of historical and natural features. Coupled with modern development, it combines to create the fascinating mosaic that is Telford today.

Distance is approximately 12 miles or 18 kilometres and is specially waymarked.

Tourist Information

A leaflet illustrating The South Telford Way is available from Spout Farm House, Telford Town Park. It is also available from the Tourist Information office in Ironbridge, or direct from the STROWP partners.

Routes Around

A number of shorter walks are available within each of the partners Parishes. STROWP has produced detailed leaflets illustrating these networks of, Routes Around, each Parish.
